"While the product had been manufactured and marketed in Singapore for over 20 years, the product has been discontinued," the NHS said in a statement.
The recalled drug was identified as Augmentin 625mg tablets and a similar product was identified as the generic drug Amoxicillin 500mg. It was imported from Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Australia.
"The product had not been in the hands of our pharmacy and was not being used by the pharmacy staff, nor was it being used to treat any other health condition," the NHS said.
The company also said that the product was not being used by any pharmacy staff.
The recalled product was packaged in 30 tablets and had a shelf life of 4 to 6 months.
The recalled product was imported from Canada. A similar recall was issued in the US in 2009 and the NHS said it had not received any reports of adverse events related to the product.
